Jack Cullington crowned 2020 Midland Open Amateur Champion

Thursday 10th September 2020

Jack Cullington was crowned 2020 Midland Open Amateur Champion at Sandwell Park Golf Club on 5th September after a tense final round. Jack joins some illustrious champions who have progressed into the professional ranks such as Andy Sullivan, Luke Donald, David Howell, John Bickerton along with Senior Tour Professionals Gary Wolstenholme and Paul Streeter as well as a number of Challenge Tour and Euro Pro Tour players.

Monday 11th May 2020

In conjunction with The R&A, home nations, PGA and other industry partners, England Golf has jointly released the following statement. The UK Government has announced that golf will be able to resume in England on Wednesday, 13 May 2020. All outdoor sport must be done alone or within a household group and that includes  golf. There is no change to the current position in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and so golf courses in these countries must remain closed for now.

In the first few weeks following the lockdown of 23 March, the most frequently asked question to myself and the staff at England Golf was ‘why are golf courses closed?’ We were able to refer to the conditions of lockdown which made it incompatible for our facilities to remain open – a position validated by government. In recent weeks, and increasingly prevalent as I write, is the changed question of “when will golf courses re-open?”. A huge change in mindset.
