Championship Chairman Vacancy
Introduction
The Midland Golf Union is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for the position of Championship Chairman. This role involves overseeing the onsite management of all Midland Golf Union Championships, commencing with the 2027 season. The successful applicant may also opt to work alongside the current Championship Chairman from 1st November 2025 to gain valuable experience.
Role Overview
The Championship Chairman will be responsible for the complete management of high-profile regional competitions, playing a key role in the development of golf within the Midland Region. The position offers a chance to contribute significantly to the sport whilst working in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Essential Criteria
Availability for all Midland Golf Union competitions.
Willingness to stay overnight when necessary.
Familiarity with the terms and conditions of each tournament (details available online).
Proven experience in managing tournaments.
Strong IT skills.
Desirable Criteria
Experience with tournament management software, preferably Intelligent Golf (training will be provided if needed).
Solid understanding of the World Handicapping System.
Ideally holds a minimum of level 2 R&A Rules qualification.
Sound knowledge of Safeguarding Policy and Health & Safety procedures.
Responsibilities
The Championship Chairman will oversee the entire tournament process, working closely with the tournament registration team and recorders to ensure smooth operation.
Remuneration
A remuneration package will be provided for the season, with payments made monthly.
