Jack Peters (Northamptonshire County) and Olivia Whittle (Brocton Hall) crowned Midland Junior Champion of County Champions at Trentham Park.
Jack Peters (Northamptonshire County) and Olivia Whittle (Brocton Hall) were crowned Midland Junior Champion of County Champions at Trentham Park on Sunday 24th September 2023 although overall winners on the day were Sam Marshall (St. Neots) and Lila Bisset (Northamptonshire) who were denied the main trophies as neither had secured their individual County Championship.
With heavy rain having drenched the course in the days leading up to the competition, conditions tested the competitors to the full. Fortunately, the rain forecast for the day didn't materialise.
Arianna Virik (Kenilworth) won the U14 Girls with a 7 over total of 147. With Amelia Bryan (Gaudet Luce) taking the runners-up position with 153 and Millie Marsh (Sherwood Forest) third on 159.
Alexander Perry (Gaudet Luce) secured the U14 Boys section with a total of 152 (+10) with Harry Slater (Wrekin) just one shot behind and 4 clear of Charlie Beer (Erewash Valley) on 157.
Both U16 winners proved to be the lowest scores for the full field, and both took the U18 title. Lila Bisset (Northamptonshire County) finished on 138 (-2) which included a stunning 66 in the first round in the U16 Girls section ahead of Arianna Virik on 147. Derbyshire County Champion, Eva Myers (Chesterfield) took third place on 153.
Sam Marshall (St. Neots) headed the U16 Boys section on 143 (+1) on countback over Kailash Krishnan (Stanton-on-the-Wolds) also on 143. Both players scored equally on RD1 and RD2, however Sam had a back 9 of 34 in RD2 against Kailash's 35. Ronnie Groves (South Staffordshire) finished third on 145.
With all players competing in the U18 section, the top three lowest gross for the Girls were Lila Bisset, Olivia Whittle and Arianna Virik. The top three lowest gross scores for the Boys were Sam Marshall, Kailash Krishnan and Ronnie Groves.
