THE EVENT

Title: The Midland Open Amateur Championship      

Format: 72 Hole Scratch Medal.

All entrants play 18 holes at Northamptonshire County Golf  Club and 18 holes at Northampton Golf Club on Friday 23rd August.

Top 40+ ties play 36 holes Northamptonshire County Golf Club on Saturday 24th August

Number of competitors: Nominal 108 + ties

Starting Times: 7:15am and 12:30 (field of 120 would require 7:15am start)

Tees: 1st tee only on Friday at both courses

1st on Saturday (18 x 3 balls at 10-minute intervals plus 1 starter space)

Time course closed to members: All day Friday (open 30 mins after last tee time). All day Saturday (open 30 mins after last group has passed through.

ONLINE ENTRY HAS JUST BEEN OPENED AGAIN UNTIL NOON ON 12th AUGUST BUT TAKEN ON FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS UNTIL WE REACH ENTRY LIMIT. THOSE ALREADY ENTERED ARE IN. THERE WILL NOT BE A HANDICAP BALLOT.

New for 2019: The Midland Open Amateur Championship is now a Midland Order of Merit event with 150% points value available. Top 15 places will receive Order of Merit Points from 225 points for the Open Champion down to 15 points for 15^th place.

CATERING

The Clubhouse will be open from 6:30am on competition days.

All players will be provided with a lunch on Friday and Saturday for those making the cut.

Bacon or sausage baps will be available on a cash sale basis for £…..

Bar menu will be available on both competition days.

 

DRESS REGULATIONS

Clubhouse: Smart casual, collared shirts (No jeans, trainers or waterproofs)

Course: Normal golfing attire, tailored shorts with white sport socks (and ankle socks).

 

MGU ADMINISTRATION

Locality of registration desk: Front entrance lobby     

Score Cards: MGU tear off strip cards will be issued at the registration desk.

Local rules/temporary local rules: EG hard card + any local rules on the day

Course planners are available for £4.00 each.              

 

HEALTH & SAFETY

First Aid: All staff are trained. Defib unit available.   

There are wooden shelters on the course to back of 7th, 3rd green, 16th green, left of 10th tee.

In the event of thunder and lightning the MGU has a klaxon and will take responsibility: MGU hand held klaxons and storm monitor. Club also have system in place.

 

THE COURSE

Tees to be used: White (measured course)

Players will be provided with a Pin position chart.                      

Yardage Markers: Disc at 150 yards to centre green, some posts at 150 and yardages on sprinkler heads.

Out of Bounds: White posts define perimeter of course.

There are public rights of way at various places around course. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 15th, 16th and 18th.

 

PRACTICE

 

The club have offered practice rounds for competitors at the member/guest rate of £27.50 each weekdays and £30.00 Friday pm and Weekends. All other visitors (competitor friends/caddies/family members) are required to pay the full green fee appropriate on the day.

 

Practice facilities at the club include full range, par 3 course, putting green and chipping green.

There is a wooden shelter on the course at the 1st Tee and the half-way house at 9th

Out of Bounds: External OOB White posts

There is a public right of way on the 15th

Practice rounds will be available after the competition closing date (approximately 3 weeks before competition date) and will be subject to availability. Cost to be confirmed.
