The Competition is open to Boys with an amateur status who are under the age of 18 on 1^st January 2018 and hold a CONGU ‘active’ handicap of 5 or under and whose “Home Club” is affiliated to one of the following County Golf Unions:

Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire & Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

For 'Online' entries all boys under 18 years of age on the 5th July 2018 must submit a PARENTAL CONSENT form . Entries will NOT be accepted unless completed.

The Midland Boys Amateur Champion for 2018 will gain exemption into the English Boys’ under 18 Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship for the CARRIS TROPHY at Fulford Golf Club on 24th to 27th July 2018 (subject to meeting all the entry criteria) and the entry fee will be paid by the Midland Golf Union.

THE EVENT

Midland Boys Amateur Championship

Format: 36-hole scratch medal

Number of competitors: 60 and ties

Starting Times: 8.00am & 1.15pm

Starting Tees: 1st & 10th

Time course closed to members: All day – until competition is complete

 

CATERING

Club house should be open by 6:30am

Players will be provided with a lunch of sandwiches and chips plus squash between rounds. Meal tokens will be issued when first round cards are returned to the MGU registration desk.

Bacon rolls and coffee will be available on a cash sale basis from 7:00am onward.

 

DRESS REGULATIONS

Clubhouse: Smart casual. – no waterproofs, no golfing gear. (soft spikes allowed)

Course:  Normal golfing attire, Shorts not allowed by MGU unless exceptional hot weather.

Mobile Phones: The use of mobile phones on the course and within the club house is not permitted unless used in the case of an emergency. All phones must be kept on silent mode.

 

MGU ADMINISTRATION

The registration desk will be located in the First floor lounge                   

Scores will be displayed in the main lounge at first floor level on the MGU scoreboard or the golf club TV.

Course planners are available at £6.00 each for the standard design or £10.00 each for the strategy design.

 

HEALTH & SAFETY

There are wooden shelters on the course at the halfway house between 10th green & 11th tee         

 

THE COURSE

White tees to be used.

A pin position chart will be provided on the registration desk for each player.

There are yardage markers on the course in the form of posts at 150 yards to centre of greens.

There is a plan of the course available on a free APP along with yardage books available to purchase.

 

PRACTICE

The club have kindly agreed to allow competitors a practice round at the guest rate of £10.00 any time after the entry closing date. Friends or parents (non-competitors) will be required to pay a £30.00 green fee by using the county card. All practice rounds are to be booked through the pro shop and are subject to availability.
