Worcestershire U14 Boys add to a long list of titles by winning the Midland U14 Boys County Championships at Stanton-on-the-Wolds Golf Club to go with wins in the EG U18 Boys County Championships and the Midland U16 Boys Midland League (West).
The Worcestershire U14 Boys team of Oliver Badger, Harry Evans, Jake Jeff-Johnson, Alexander Perry, Hayden Sarfo and Max Wesley finished on 396, 4 clear of 2022 winners Shropshire & Herefordshire on 400. Staffordshire finished a close 3rd on 402. It was unclear until the very end who was going to come out on top, providing a tense finish for players, officials and spectators. Nottinghamshire finished 4th on 409 with Derbyshire just a further two shots further back on 411.
Best round of the day was Nottinghamshire based Theo Nelson with a level par round of 73, a trio of players, Oliver Badger (Worcestershire), Ellis Kerr (Cambridgeshire) and Alfie Warke (Staffordshire) shared the runners up slot on 76 followed by another five players, Brodie Miller (S&H), Joshua Hull (Staffordshire), Alexander Perry (Worcestershire), Daniel Agapito (Lincolnshire) and Harry Evans (Worcestershire) on 77.
The best nett score on the day was Albert Lees (Staffordshire) with an impressive 66 followed by Joshua Hull (Staffordshire) on 68 with Ruban Atkinson (Staffordshire) and Teddy Bailey Jenkins (Staffordshire) a shot further back on 69. Quite a display by the Staffordshire Boys within the Nett leaderboard taking the top 4 places and the remaining two players taking 7th & 8th place. However, the Gross leaderboard was the main focus of the Championship with the strength in depth of the Worcestershire team proving just enough to hold off the challenges of S&H and Staffordshire.
