Oliver Farrell Triple Title Win

Oliver Farrell (Evesham Golf Club) secured the Midland Youths Championship and the Kymin Cup and added the Howell Cup to make it a clean sweep of trophies at Stoke Rochford on 11th July. With a 3 under par total (277) he headed a strong field by 2 strokes. Sam Done (Kenwick Park Golf Club) edged out Nick Poppleton (Wath Golf Club) on count back, both players finishing on 279.

Oliver Farrell won all three trophies  with rounds of 67, 69, 73 and a final round of 68 to finish on 277 holding off the challenge of Sam Done and Nick Poppleton and leaving the remaining 49 players trailing in his wake. 4th place Harrison Woan (Overstone Park) finished on 283 and Tom Hamson (Horsley Lodge) on 284 needed a good final round to challenge Oliver Farrell but they were unable to overcome the eventual winner. Farrell had 2 birdies and 2 bogies on the front nine but came home with 2 more birdies and 7 straight pars under pressure to maintain his lead. With a little too much to do Sam Done, playing in front of Farrell, returned a 67 in the final round, with the bogies at 7, 8 and 10 proving costly. Nick Poppleton seemed to struggle with the par 3’s on the final day, recording 4’s at all but the 12th.

In the Howell Cup Oliver Farrell (277) and Sam Done (279) were placed 1st and 2nd respectively with Jordan Boulton (Notts Golf Club) and Reece Samson (Worksop Golf Club) taking 3rd and 4th place. Both finished on 289 with Jordan Boulton having the better final round. 2013 Champion Thomas Forster (Oundle Golf Club) (291) finished in 5th place with a closing 68 to edge out Matthew Myers (Northamptonshire County) on count back.
