The Competition is open to Boys with an amateur status who are under the age of 18 on 1^st January 2020 and hold a CONGU ‘active’ handicap of 6 or under and whose “Home Club” is affiliated to one of the following County Golf Unions:

Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland,Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire,

 Shropshire & Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

THE EVENT

Title: Midland Boys Amateur Championship

Format: 36-hole scratch medal

Number of competitors: 60 (and ties)

Starting Times: 07:30 & 12:30 (10 minute intervals)

Tees: 1st & 10th

Time course closed to members: All day – until competition is complete.

RESERVES:

The following players have been placed on reserve based on their handicap registered at England Golf on 25^th August 2020. Should a place become available these will be offered to each player in turn from the list. Any changes in handicap between now and the competition date do not affect the place on the list.

CATERING

MGU will provide meal tickets for the following

Players Lunch – Filled baps & chips – Ordered at registration desk or arrival.

 

The kitchen will not be available for food on arrival or prior to Round 1.

 

DRESS REGULATIONS

Clubhouse: Smart casual. – golf shoes allowed to blue carpet area only, no waterproofs, no golfing gear.

Course: Boys: Normal golfing attire. Tailored shorts with white sport socks.

 

MGU ADMINISTRATION

Locality of MGU registration desk: Front corner of main bar area.

Leaderboard display will be located in the main bar

HEALTH & SAFETY

First Aid: Pro shop staff, duty manager, green keepers                                                   

There easy access for an ambulance to the course if required.

There a helicopter landing facility if required.

In the event of thunder and lightning the MGU have a klaxon and will take responsibility: MGU storm monitor & hand-held klaxons.  Club klaxons operated by Pro shop

Players and visitors are required to wear face coverings in all areas of the clubhouse and pro shop except the restaurant area in order to comply to government guidelines on Covid-19. Social distancing guidelines must be followed at all times.

Flag sticks must not be removed or handled at any time. Ball lifters to the base of the flag stick are in place. The lifting mechanism should be turned away from the line of the putt to ensure the ball is not deflected away from the hole.

All safety information will be available online in advance of the competition for players to download prior to arrival.

 

CAR PARKING

There is a large car park available along with additional overflow parking if required.

 

THE COURSE

Tees to be used: White (on stones)

Pin positions will be set by the course manager - Sensible & playable.

Players will be provided with a pin position chart online.

Yardage Markers: Plates in fairway at 200, 150 and 100 yards to centre of green

 

PRACTICE

Practice rounds will be available after the competition closing date and will be subject to availability. Practice rounds for competitors will be charged at £20.00 each with all others (Parents, etc.) at £28.00. All to be arranged through the Pro Shop.
