THE EVENT

Title: The Midland Open Amateur Championship      

Format: 72 Hole Scratch Medal, playing 18 holes at The Leicestershire Golf Club and 18 holes at Glen Gorse Golf Club on Friday 24th August. Top 40+ ties play 36 holes The Leicestershire Golf Club on Saturday 25th August     

Number of competitors: Nominal 108 + ties

Starting Times: 7:15am and 12:30 (field of 120 would require 7:15am start)

Tees: 1st (3 balls at 10-minute intervals plus 1 starter space)

Time course closed to members: All day Friday (open 30 mins after last tee time)

Jack Diment (Belton Park) - winner 2018 Midland Closed Amateur Championship

Handicap exemptions:

Charlie Salter (Northamptonshire County) - Runner up 2018 Midland Closed Amateur Championship

Jordan Boulton (Notts Golf Club) - Third place 2018 Midland Closed Amateur Championship.

DRESS REGULATIONS

Clubhouse: Smart casual – No waterproofs or trainers.

Course: Normal golfing clothing Tailored shorts allowed with white sport socks

 

MGU ADMINISTRATION

The MGU registration desk will be located in the Foyer.

The MGU scoreboard will be located in the first-floor lounge. The leaderboard will also be available on the MGU website.

 

HEALTH & SAFETY

In the event of thunder and lightning the MGU have a klaxon and will take responsibility:                Club Klaxon

MGU have storm monitor and hand-held klaxons.

 

CAR PARKING

THE COURSE

Tees to be used: White

All players will be provided with a pin position chart on the registration desk.

Yardage Markers in place are discs in fairway at 150 yards to centre of greens.                                   

Player should be aware there is a bell on the 14th and 7th which players should use to signal to players following that it is clear to play.

Players should be aware that sleeper bridges over brook will be slippery when wet. Public walkway through the course.

There is a plan of each hole on the tee boards.

 

PRACTICE

The club have kindly agreed to allow competitors a practice round at the guest rate of £10.00 any time after the entry closing date (7th August) except Tuesdays and Saturdays until 3pm. Friends or caddies will be required to pay a £30.00 green fee by using the county card. All practice rounds are to be booked through the pro shop

Driving range will be open 06:45 on both competition days.

THE COURSE

Tees to be used: White

Players will be provided with a pin position chart.

Yardage Markers on the course are discs at 250 yards, 200 yards, 150 yards and 100 yards plus posts at 150 yards all to centre of greens.

Players should be aware of public rights of way across the course. A footpath crosses the course at 2nd, 12th & 13th and at 3rd, 10th & 14th

 

PRACTICE

The club have kindly agreed to allow competitors a practice round at the guest rate of £5.00 any time after the entry closing date (7th August) except Tuesday mornings. Friends or caddies will be required to pay a full green fee appropriate for the day. All practice rounds are to be booked through the pro shop and are subject to availability.
