Online Entry for 2024 MIDLAND YOUTHS OPEN AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP (RD1)

CONDITIONS

1. The Championship will be decided by lowest gross over FOUR rounds of 18 holes each, 72 holes in total.
2. Entrants must be under 21 years or 18 years (Howell Cup) of age on 1st. January 2024.
3. All UK players must hold a WHS Handicap Index of 8.4 or less. Non-UK players must hold a handicap operated by a recognised Overseas Golfing Union, Federation or Association.
4. All players must be member of a golf club affiliated to a recognised Golfing Union.
5. Competitors entering from overseas shall enter through the secretary of the recognised Authority controlling golf in the country from which the competitor elects to enter.
6. Entries will be limited to 102 competitors plus ties. In the event of applications exceeding this number, entries of higher handicap will be decided by ballot, which will take place immediately after the closing date for entries. All unsuccessful entrants will be informed without delay thereafter, but will be given the opportunity to compete if withdrawals subsequently occur. Entrance fees will be refunded to entrants balloted out, who do not compete. If the level of entries falls below 102 then the Committee reserve the right to amend the competition prize fund accordingly.
7. The entrance fee is £60.00 (inclusive of meal vouchers). Entries can be made either ‘online’ using a credit card or by post.
8. Entries by post are to be made on the Official Entry Form and must be accompanied by the Entry Fee of £60.00, and must be in the possession of the Administrator (see below) no later than the closing date. Late or incomplete entry forms or entries without the entry fee will not be accepted. Cheques should be made payable to "Midland Golf Union Ltd". Entries will NOT be accepted by telephone, nor unless the entry form is completed fully.
9. Entrance fees will NOT be refunded unless intimation of a withdrawal is received before the closing date, except for those entrants who may be balloted out and who do not subsequently compete.
10. The ‘starting sheet’ will be posted on the MGU website, www.midlandgolfunion.co.uk and emailed to entrants. If you require a hard copy, please include a SAE with your postal entry.
11. Competitors will play one round on Wednesday 3rd July and on Thursday 4th July 2024. The lowest scores gross over these 36 holes and, any tying for 50th. place will qualify for the 36-hole play on Friday 5th July 2024. Then the next 40 leading non-qualifiers plus ties will be eligible to compete for the Andrew Hare Salver on Friday 5th July 2024.
12. A tie for the Midland Youths (Closed) Trophy 1st place will be decided by a play-off at the Committees discretion. Ties in the Kymin Cup and Howell Cup shall be decided by card play-off in the order of 4th round, 3rd round, 2nd round, 1st round, then last 9 – 6 – 3 - 2 or 1 holes gross in that order. If a tie still arises the Committee will decide on a formula which shall be final.
13. In the event of a tie after 18 holes of the Andrew Hare Salver a result shall be decided by card play off on the last 9 - 6 - 3 - 2 or 1 holes gross in that order. If a tie still arises the Committee will decide on a formula which shall be final.
14. Caddies are allowed during the Championship, but must be under 18 on 1st January 2024 if caddying for a U18 player.
15. Practice times will be 12.00 am. to 4.30 pm. on Tuesday 2nd July 2024. Please use the attached form for starting time preferred. Times allocated on arrival with some flexibility according to demand.
16. Camping, please use attached form.
17. Competitors who are not present on the tee at their starting time may be disqualified.
18. The Championship Committee reserve the right to fix and / or alter the starting times. In the event of play having to be abandoned the Tournament Committee reserve the right to amend Rules of the Tournament.
19. All entries are subject to the approval of the Championship Committee, who reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving reason. The Committee may also request the production of a birth certificate for any competitor either before or during the Championship.
20. All competitors shall register at the recorder’s office immediately on arrival at the Stoke Rochford Golf Club.
21. Neither the Host Club nor the Midland Golf Union can accept any responsibility for theft or accident.
22. Parents (or Guardians) of all players are expected to ensure that their child protects themselves in Health & Safety matters, with particular emphasis on the dangers from lightening when play must stop immediately and not be resumed until the danger has passed. Players must also stop play immediately when a long blast of a klaxon is sounded, and not resume until two short blasts, repeated, are heard.
23. Any question arising as to qualification, Rules of Golf, or any other point will be considered by the Officers of the Midland Golf Union whose decision will be final.
