2023 MIDLAND SENIOR AUTUMN CHAMPIONSHIP Rules

CONDITIONS
1. Entrants must have attained the age of 55 years on or before the day of the Championship. Hold a WHS handicap index of 14.4 and below.
2. All players must be member of a golf club affiliated to a Midland County Golf Union.
3. Entries will be restricted to 120 players. In the event of there being an excess of entries, we reserve the right to ballot the higher handicaps in the various groups. If the level of entries falls below 120 then the Committee reserve the right to amend the competition prize fund accordingly.
4. Starting times will be from 8.00 a.m. Consideration will be given for later starting times when travelling a long distance.
5. The administration of the event shall be under the auspices of the Midland Golf Union and shall be organised and run in accordance with the Rules of Golf and the requirements of the Midland Gold Union.
6. The event will be a Qualifying event for Handicapping purposes.
7. A competitor must conform to the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status as defined by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.
8. In the event of a player having to withdraw after the start sheet has been published, the entry fee will NOT be refunded.
9. All disputes shall be decided by the Committee or delegated Officers, whose decision shall be final.
10. A tie for first place shall be decided by a card play-off and all other places shall be decided by a card play-off (count back) from the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole.
11. The R. & A. approved list of conforming golf balls will apply. The R. & A. ruling on driving clubs from 1st Jan 2005 will apply.
12. Competitors are warned that they will be penalised for “undue delay” under Rule 5.6a.
13. Entries to be made on Online or on the Official Entry Form and must be accompanied by the Entry Fee of £38.00 player and a stamped addressed envelope if you require a hard copy of the start sheet. They must be in the possession of the Midland Golf Union Secretary no later than the closing date (see below). Late or incomplete entry forms or entries without the entry fee will not be accepted. The maximum WHS handicap index will be 14.4
14. Neither the Host Golf Club nor the Midland Golf Union Ltd can accept any responsibility for thefts and accidents, and competitors must carry their own insurance cover.
15. Competitors must protect themselves in all Health and Safety matters, especially should there be a danger from lightning when play must stop immediately, and not be resumed until the danger has passed.
16. Also, if there is a long blast of a klaxon play must again stop immediately, and not be resumed until two short blasts of the klaxon are heard.
17. DMD’s that measure ‘distance only’ are allowed.
18. The use of buggies is prohibited unless supported by a medical certificate. There will be no exceptions to this requirement. In the event of the host club imposing a buggy ban (due to adverse ground conditions or to satisfy a Health & Safety requirement) a refund of the entry fee will apply.
19. Competitors must comply with any further conditions stated on the starting list.
20. The entry list and start sheets will be displayed on the MGU website (Seniors Section).
21. The lowest aggregate gross scores from the Midland Senior Spring and the Midland Senior Autumn for any player 65 years and over on the date of the Midland Senior Spring (23rd May 2022) shall be presented with the "Brian Morris Trophy".
22. Prizes will be awarded as follows: 1 to 5 gross in Age Group A, 1 to 5 gross in Age Group B, 1 to 2 Nett in Age Group A, 1 to 2 Nett in Age Group B, Brian Morris Trophy individual winner on the day. (Only one prize per person except Brian Morris trophy).
