Obituary - David Frederick Price
It is with regret that we have to report the sad passing of David Price (MGU Immediate Past President). David passed away peacefully on Saturday (8th April 2023) at Queen Medical Centre, Nottingham.
David has served the Midland Golf Union as Chairman from October 2015 to October 2020 when he was appointed Midland Golf Union President, completing his two year term in October 2022. Prior to all this David have been a stalwart of Golf within his home county of Lincolnshire serving as a county player, progressing to County Captain in 1996 & 1997 and finally as President of the LUGC in 2005 & 2006, since then he was an active member of the Lincolnshire Executive. David has also being involved as an advisor to Woodhall Spa Holdings Ltd.
David presented the Midland Golf Union with a trophy in his name for the Midland U21 Girls Closed Amateur Championship which will be held at Stoke Rochford Golf Club from 4th to 6th July 2023.
David was a member of Belton Park Golf Club for many years and will be sadly missed by us all in the Midland Golf Union, Lincolnshire Golf Ltd and Belton Park. David had been a member at Belton Park since 1973 and in that time amongst his many achievements he was Club Champion in 1979. A feat he achieved 11 times in total over 4 decades. He was also Club Captain in 2011. He took most delight however in winning the Family Cup with his son Tom in 2008.
Funeral details: David's funeral will be on Thursday 11th May 2023 at St Wulfram's Church in Grantham at 1.30pm. There will be a private family service at the crematorium followed by a meeting of friends and family at Belton Park Golf Club.
