2012 EG Boys County Championship - Midland Qualifying
On a warm, then cool rainy thunderous day at The Leicestershire Golf Club last years County Champions, Lincolnshire, missing two of their international players set out to retain the title. Unfortunately by lunch they were 10 shots behind co-leaders Staffordshire and Leicestershire & Rutland.
In the PM round, which was unfortunately interrupted by thunder and lightening, there was some great golf played with Worcestershire posting 343 for the afternoon and Derbyshire 346 but this was still not good enough to stop Staffordshire winning the Qualifier with a two round total of 702 seven shots clear of the field.
Congratulations to Staffordshire who go forward to represent the Midlands in the final at Cotswold Hills GC on the 28-30 Aug 2012, we all wish them ''the best of luck'.
Our thanks goes to all at The Leicestershire for hosting the Qualifier, for all hard work by the greens staff for producing a course in great shape. Our thanks also to the caterers for the excellent fare that was produced, and finally to the Executive and members who gave up their course so that we could play.
