James Reeson (Brampton Park Golf Club) wins the 2016 Midland Closed Amateur Championship
James Reeson (Brampton Park Golf Club) wins the 2016 Midland Closed Amateur Championship at Hinckley Golf Club after an impression opening round of 67 setting a new course record. This was followed by a 76 to record a final total of 143 finishing just one stroke ahead of Jordan Boulton (Notts Golf Club) with rounds of 71 and 73, a further stroke in front of Martin Anderson (Market Harborough) on 145 with rounds of 73 and 72.
James had an early lead after round one and maintained his lead to the end. It was a double celebration for James who, along with Brampton Park member Owen Davies, secured the Team Championship trophy with a combined score of 300.
Enville Golf Club pairing of Richard Shaw and Steve Watton finished second in the Team Championship with a combined total of 307. Third place went to Sam Broadhurst and Luke Challis (Atherstone Golf Club) with a total of 312.
The 2017 Midland Closed Amateur Championship will take place at Northamptonshire County Golf Club (Northamptonshire) on Saturday 10th June 2017.
