2022 Midland Boys Junior Champion of Champions (RD1) Rules

CONDITIONS
1. The Championship shall be played over 36 holes in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal & Ancient Club of St. Andrews and in accordance with the local rules and those approved by the Championship Committee.
2. The competition is open to the highest placed U18, U16 and U14 Boys from the Junior County Champions within the Counties affiliated to the Midland Golf Union, namely Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire & Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Only the highest placed boy in each age division will be eligible. No substitutes allowed.
3. The winners of the Junior County Championships (defined in 2 above) will compete for the Midland Junior Champions of Champions Trophy and will be the boy who returns the lowest gross score for the 36 holes. All other finalists will compete for the individual age division trophies at U18, U16 and U14. A tie for 1st place will be decided by a play-off at the Committee’s discretion. Ties for all other 36-hole prizes shall be the lowest score over the last 18, 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole in that order, and for 18-hole prizes, over the last 9, 6, 3, or 1 hole in that order.
4. All entrants must be under 18 years of age on the 1st of January 2022 and hold a WHS handicap. Those competing for the U16 Champion of Champions and U14 Champion of Champions must be U16 on the 1st January 2022 and U14 on the 1st January 2022 respectively.
5. Competitors shall be on the designated tee at least five minutes before their starting time for each round. Any competitor who is absent from the first tee when called upon to start will be disqualified.
6. A Competitor is allowed to have a caddy who must be under 18 on 1st January 2022. Penalty for breach of this condition is two strokes for each hole at which a breach occurred, with a maximum penalty of four strokes. (Covid restrictions may apply)
7. The R & A approved list of conforming golf balls will apply. The R & A ruling on driving clubs from 1st Jan 2005 will apply.
8. A Practice Round will be available, and details will be sent to all competitors prior to the event.
9. The Committee reserves the right to fix and/or alter starting times. In the event of play having to be abandoned / postponed the Committee reserve the right to amend the rules of the competition.
10. The Committee reserve the right to refuse any entry without assigning the reason for so doing.
11. Entry can be made by post and must be authorised by the County Secretary or County Junior Organiser on the entry form obtainable from your County Union Delegate, the Midland Golf Union website, www.midlandgolfunion.co.uk or from the Administrator.
12. Entries by post must include the completed authorised entry form. The entry fee will be paid by the County Union the player is representing. Entries will not be accepted by telephone, nor unless the entry form is fully completed.
13. The ‘starting sheet’ will be posted on the MGU website, www.midlandgolfunion.co.uk and emailed to entrants. If you require a hard copy please include a SAE with your postal entry.
14. No boy shall be eligible to enter if he has participated in a county event of another EG Regional group in the current season.
15. Entrants must conform in all respects to the Rules of Amateur Status. Boys working for Golf Professionals must not have received fees for playing nor coaching, and must not have taken part in PGA competitions.
16. Neither the Host Club nor the Midland Golf Union can accept any responsibility for thefts and accidents, and competitors must ask their parents to ensure that they have insurance cover. Parents (or Guardians) of the boys are also expected to ensure that their child protects himself in all Health and Safety matters, with particular emphasis on the danger from lightning when play must stop immediately and not be resumed until the danger has passed. Competitors must also stop play immediately when a long blast of a klaxon is sounded, and not resume until two short blasts, repeated, are heard.
17. Competitors are warned that they will be penalised for "undue delay" under Rule 5.6a.
18. DMD’s that measure ‘distance only’ are allowed.
19. Mobile Phones (including pagers and similar devices): May not be used on the course (including on practice days) by players for making /sending or receiving calls or texts except in an emergency.
20. Any question arising as to qualification, Rules of Golf, or any other point will be considered by the Officers of the Midland
Golf Union whose decision will be final.

22. All entries must be accompanied by a parental consent form prior to the event.
23. Closing date for online/postal entries will be Midnight on Monday the 5th SEPTEMBER 2022.
