2021 Midland Youths Open Amateur Championship (RD1) Rules

CONDITIONS

1. The Championship will be decided by strokes over FOUR rounds of 18 holes each, which will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and in accordance with the Local Rules approved by the Championship committee.
2. Entrants must be under 21 years or 18 years (Howell Cup) of age on 1st. January 2021.
3. Entrants must conform in all respects of the Rules of the Amateur Status and shall sign the declaration form to that effect contained in the entry form. This is an English Golf approved event
4. All UK players must hold a WHS Handicap Index of 8.4 or less. Non-UK players must hold a handicap operated by a recognised Overseas Golfing Union, Federation or Association.
5. All players must be member of a golf club affiliated to a recognised Golfing Union. Competitors entering from Great Britain and Ireland shall do so subject to the approval of the committee of the Club from which the competitor elects to enter.
6. Competitors entering from overseas shall enter through the secretary of the recognised Authority controlling golf in the country from which the competitor elects to enter.
7. Entries will be limited to 102 competitors plus ties. In the event of applications exceeding this number, entries of higher handicap will be decided by ballot, which will take place immediately after the closing date for entries. All unsuccessful entrants will be informed without delay thereafter, but will be given the opportunity to compete if withdrawals subsequently occur. Entrance fees will be refunded to entrants balloted out, who do not compete. If the level of entries falls below 102 then the Committee reserve the right to amend the competition prize fund accordingly.
8. The entrance fee is £45.00 (inclusive of meal vouchers). Entries can be made either ‘online’ using a credit card or by post.
9. Entries by post are to be made on the Official Entry Form and must be accompanied by the Entry Fee of £45.00, and must be in the possession of the Administrator (see below) no later than the closing date. Late or incomplete entry forms or entries without the entry fee will not be accepted. Cheques should be made payable to "Midland Golf Union Ltd".
10. Entries will NOT be accepted by telephone, nor unless the entry form is completed fully.
11. Entrance fees will NOT be refunded unless intimation of a withdrawal is received before the closing date, except for those entrants who may be balloted out and who do not subsequently compete.
12. The ‘starting sheet’ will be posted on the MGU website, www.midlandgolfunion.co.uk and emailed to entrants. If you require a hard copy please include a SAE with your postal entry.
13. Competitors will play one round on Wednesday 30th June and on Thursday 1st July 2021. The lowest scores gross over these 36 holes and, any tying for 50th. place will qualify for the 36-hole play on Friday 2nd July 2021. The 40 leading non-qualifiers plus ties will be eligible to compete for the Andrew Hare Salver on Friday 2nd July 2021.
14. In the event of a tie after four rounds of the Championship the result will be decided by a play off where practicable. Otherwise a decision will be by a card playoff on the 4th round, 3rd round, 2nd round and 1st round gross in that order. If a tie still arises the organiser will decide on a formula which shall be final.
15. In the event of a tie after 18 holes of the Andrew Hare Salver a result shall be decided by card play off on the last 9 - 6 - 3 - 2 or 1 holes gross in that order. If a tie still arises the organiser will decide on a formula which shall be final.
16. The R & A approved list of conforming golf balls will apply. The R & A ruling on driving clubs from 1st Jan 2005 will apply.
17. Dress in the CLUB HOUSE will be in accordance with the Club Rules. Jackets, Collars and Ties must be worn at presentations. Denims and Trainers are not permitted on or off the golf course.
18. Caddies are allowed during the Championship and must be under 18 on 1st January 2021 if caddying for a junior player.
19. Ride on Caddy Carts are not allowed.
20. Practice times will be 12.00 am. to 4.30 pm. on Tuesday 29th June 2021. Please use the attached form for starting time preferred. Times allocated on arrival with some flexibility according to demand.
21. Camping, please use attached form.
22. Competitors who are not present on the tee at their starting time will be disqualified.
23. The Championship Committee reserve the right to fix and / or alter the starting times. In the event of play having to be abandoned the Tournament Committee reserve the right to amend Rules of the Tournament.
24. All entries are subject to the approval of the Championship Committee, who reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving reason. The Committee may also request the production of a birth certificate for any competitor either before or during the Championship.
25. All competitors shall register at the recorder’s office immediately on arrival at the Stoke Rochford Golf Club.
26. Neither the Host Club nor the Midland Golf Union can accept any responsibility for theft or accident.
27. Competitors must protect themselves in Health & Safety matters, especially should there be danger from lightning when play must stop immediately and not be resumed until the danger has passed.
28. Also, if there is a long blast of a klaxon, play must again stop immediately and not be resumed until two short blasts, repeated, are heard.
29. DMD’s that measure ‘distance only’ are allowed.
30. Mobile Phones (including pagers or similar devices): May not be used on the course (including on practice days) by players for making/sending or receiving calls or texts except in an emergency.

32. All players under the age of 18 on the day of the competition must provide a parental consent form with the entry form.
33. Entries close for online/post at Midnight on Monday 7th June 2021.
