2019 Midland Open Amateur Championship - Northamptonshire County Rules

CONDITIONS

1. The championship will comprise of 72 holes stroke play. Each competitor will play 18 holes at the NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNTY Golf Club and 18 holes at NORTHAMPTON Golf Club on Friday 23rd August 2019. The leading forty competitors and those tying for fortieth place will play 36 holes at the NORTHAMPTONSHIRE Golf Club on Saturday 24th August 2019.
2. A competitor must be an amateur as defined by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, and play to the Rules of Golf.
3. All UK players must hold a CONGU ‘active’ handicap (5 or less). Non-UK players must hold a handicap (5 or less) operated by a recognised Overseas Golfing Union, Federation or Association.
4. The number of competitors will be limited to 108 plus ties. In the event of applications exceeding this number, entry for the higher handicap competitors shall be decided by ballot. Unsuccessful entries will be added to a list of reserves. If the level of entries falls below 100 then the Committee reserve the right to amend the prize fund accordingly.
5. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason.
6. In the event of a player having to scratch after the closing date, the entry fee will not be refunded.
7. All disputes will be decided by the Championship Committee or delegated Officers, whose decision will be final.
8. The R.& A. approved list of conforming golf balls will apply. The R & A ruling on driving clubs from 1st Jan 2005 will apply.
9. A tie for 1st place will be decided by a play-off at the Committee’s discretion. Ties for all other places will be decided on the scores of the 4th rnd, 3rd rnd, 2nd rnd and 1st rnd in that order, if a tie still exists then it will be decided using the last 9,6,3 or 1 holes of the last completed rnd then the first 9,6,3 or 1 holes and so on until a decision is reached.
10. MGU Stewards and Officials have the authority to issue a warning to competitors for "undue delay" under Rules 6-7. If such warning is not heeded, then a penalty will be imposed.
11. Entries can be made ‘online’ using a credit card or by post.
12. Entries by post are to be made on the Official Entry Form and must be accompanied by the Entry Fee of £50.00 and must be in the possession of the Administrator (see below) no later than the closing date. Late or incomplete entry forms or entries without the entry fee will not be accepted. Cheques should be made payable to "Midland Golf Union Ltd".
13. The ‘starting sheet’ will be posted on the MGU website, www.midlandgolfunion.co.uk and emailed to entrants. If you require a hard copy please include a SAE with your postal entry.
14. Neither the Host Clubs nor the Midland Golf Union can accept any responsibility for theft and accidents. Competitors must have their own insurance cover.
15. Competitors must protect themselves in Health & Safety matters, especially should there be danger from lightning when play must stop immediately and not be resumed until the danger has passed.
16. Also, if there is a long blast of a klaxon, play must again stop immediately and not be resumed until two short blasts, repeated, are heard.
17. DMD’s that measure ‘distance only’ are allowed.
18. Mobile Phones (including pagers and similar devices): May not be used on the course (including on practice days) by players or caddies for making/sending or receiving calls or texts except in an emergency.
19. Competitors are requested to conform with the dress regulations, the playing of practice rounds, the handing in of completed score cards, lunch on Friday, starting regulations, other conditions and the "local rules" of the Club as stated in "General Information" sent out with the starting times for Friday the 24th August 2019.
