2019 Midland Senior Pairs Championship Rules

CONDITIONS:
1. Entrants must have attained the age of 55 years on or before the day of the competition. Hold a CONGU ‘active’ handicap and the limit will be 12.
2. Entries will be restricted to 60 pairs. In the event of there being an excess of entries, we will operate on a first come first served basis. If the level of entries falls below 60 pairs then the Committee reserve the right to amend the competition prize fund accordingly. Entries in excess of 60 pairs will be placed on a reserve list and used if a vacancy occurs
3. Starting times will be from 8.00 a.m. Consideration will be given for later starting times when travelling a long distance.
4. The entry fee will be £40.00 per pair. The entry fee does not include food but a full menu is available.
5. A pair of competitors will not be allowed to win more than one prize for the competition.
6. The main prizes will be decided by gross scores as to the first four for the Championship, further nett prizes will be awarded.
7. A tie for first place will be decided by a card count back and will be decided by the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 holes.
8. All competitors must conform to the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status as defined by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.
9. The R&A approved list of conforming balls will apply. The R&A ruling on driving clubs from 1st Jan 2005 will apply.
10. Entry can be made ‘online’ by credit card or by post on the entry form obtainable from the Administrator or the Midland Golf Union website, www.midlandgolfunion.co.uk The Entry fee is £40.00 for the pair.
11. All entries must be complete online or in the possession of the Administrator (for postal entries) no later than the closing date. Late or incomplete entry forms or entries without the entry fee, will not be accepted.
12. The ‘starting sheet’ will be posted on the MGU website, www.midlandgolfunion.co.uk and emailed to entrants. If you require a hard copy please include a SAE with you postal entry.
13. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason.
14. All disputes will be decided by the Administrators whose decision will be final.
15. Undue delay under Rule 6-7 will be penalised.
16. In the event of a player having to withdraw from the event, the player is requested to find a replacement and notify the administrator as soon as possible, the entry fee will NOT be refunded if the player withdraws after the closing date.
17. DMD’s that measure ‘distance only’ are allowed.
18. Mobile Phones (including pagers and similar devices): May not be used on the course by players or caddies for making/sending or receiving calls or texts except in an emergency.
19. Neither the Host Club nor the Midland Golf Union can accept any responsibility for theft and accidents, and competitors
must have their own insurance cover.
20. Competitors must protect themselves in Health and Safety matters, especially should there be a danger from lightning when play must stop immediately and not be resumed until danger has passed. Also if there is a long blast of a klaxon, play must again stop immediately, and not be resumed until two short blasts, repeated, are heard.
21. The use of buggies is prohibited unless supported by a medical certificate. There will be no exceptions to this requirement. In the event of the host club imposing a buggy ban (due to adverse ground conditions or to satisfy a Health & Safety requirement) a refund of the entry fee will apply.
22. Competitors must conform with the Rules and Regulations of the Host Club and conditions stated on the Starting Times list.
23. A Practice Round will be available and details will be sent to all competitors prior to the event.

25. The entry list and start sheets will be displayed on the MGU website (Seniors Section).
