2018 Midland Under 16 Boys Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship (Hawkstone Course) Rules

CHAMPIONSHIP RULES

The championships shall be open to both English Boys and Girls, under the age of 16, on the 1st January, 2018, or currently in an England Under 16 regional coaching squad.

It shall be a Stroke play competition, Gross score only to count, played over 54 holes, 36 holes being played on the 3rd April. The leading 42 Boys and those tying for 42nd place, shall play a further 18 holes on the Championship course on 4th April. Girls will be a similar ratio, depending on entries.
All players will play 18 holes on the Championship course and 18 holes on the Hawkstone Course on the 3rd April and the aggregate scores will be used to determine the qualifiers.

The handicap limit shall be 8.4 for Boys and 12.4 for Girls. If the entry level exceeds 117 players a handicap ballot may apply. Those being balloted out will receive a full refund of their competition entry fee only.

The winner shall be the player who returns the lowest score over the 54 holes (both boy and Girl), in the event of a tie, there will be a sudden death playoff to decide the winner, over holes decided by the tournament director and committee

Those not making the cut will play a separate competition on the Hawkstone course, over 18 holes, in the event of a tie, the winner will be decided on a card playoff.

Players may only use Caddies under the age of 16, on the 1st January 2018, penalty for breach of condition, two strokes for each hole at which any breach occurred, maximum penalty per round; four strokes

The regional Trophy will be decided by the best 3 scores from a team of 4 on each round on Tuesday 3rd APRIL. Teams can be all Girl or all boy or a ix of each, regions can select numerous teams to compete, regional squad managers to select teams, Teams to be declared by midday on 2nd APRIL.

There will be an additional trophy, the Brian Purse Memorial Trophy, presented to the best 54 hole gross score by a boy who is affiliated to a club within the Midland Golf Union
