Michael Farr wins the Andrew Hare Salver.

With the top 40 non qualifiers battling out over 18 on Friday 11th July it was Michael Farr who eventually came out on top finishing with a level par 70, one stroke better that Thomas Godfrey (Fulford Heath) on 71 and a further stroke back was Matthew Osborn (The Abbey Golf & Country Club) in his first MGU event on 72 with Finley Mason (Moor Hall) also on 72.

Farr recorded an eagle at 13 and birdies at 11 and 17 to cancel out dropped shots at 4, 7 and 9 and a drop shot on the final green left him nervously waiting for the rest of the field to finish. A late flurry of birdies at 15, 16 and 18 were not enough for Thomas Godfrey and the bogies in the early part of the round proved costly. Clubhouse leader for some time, Matthew Osborn, had recorded birdies at 2, 13 and 16 but saw his lead overtaken by the two of the later starters, in the end had to settle for 3rd place.

Charles Scott (Stoke Rochford vice Captain) with Andrew Hare Salver winner Michael Farr.
