2012 Midland Boys Championship
On a hot, humid day at Oundle GC, deep in Northamptonshire, 60 of our top Junior stars battled it out for the Midland Boys crown. At the half way stage Issac Walker, Notts, was at the top of the leader board with a 2 under 68 with Wesselingh, Robinson and Woan one shot behind.
In the heat of the afternoon Walker shot 71 for a total of 139 and leader in the clubhouse. With rounds of 68 from Sallis and Moore, 69 from Dennies, 70 from Spooner and 71s from Walker and Higgins the leader board showed only 5 shots separated the top 6 places. With a ten minute outburst of rain to dampen the field down young Jack Sallis's 68 gave him the title on 138 pipping Walker by 1. The JP Memorial Trophy (U16) was retained by Bradley Moore on 141.
Our thanks to Oundle GC and its members for hosting the event and for looking after us so well. The course was in great nick and the catering 1st class.
